A perfect gift for the artist, architect, history buff, or Rennaissance fan in your life, this handmade necklace features an 18K white gold plated cuban chain and toggle clasp with custom designed pendant. I handcraft each of my pendants using laser engraved wax seal stamps that I custom designed. This piece is part of our Eterna Collection, inspired by ancient and classical designs and symbology throughout the centuries. The center pendant that is the highlight of this piece is handcrafted from clay, cured and glazed, and is an impression of the magnificent rose window on the facade of the Santa Maria Del Fiore Cathedral in Florence, Italy (otherwise known as the Duomo). The Cathedral was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style and on 19 August 1418, the Arte della Lana announced an architectural design competition for erecting Neri's dome. The two main competitors were two master goldsmiths, Lorenzo Ghiberti and Filippo Brunelleschi, the latter of whom was supported by Cosimo de Medici. The cathedral was structurally completed by 1436, with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The masters and financiers responsible for the Duomo's design and construction were at the center of the Italian Renaissance and have great influence throughout history and in our lives today. For this reason I have selected the Duomo's majestic rose window as a featured piece in my Eterna jewelry collection (meaning, "Eternal"). You can see in the photos recent images of the Duomo taken just a few months ago. Truly breathtaking. Every piece in my shop has been inspired by symbology, art or architecture that hold great meaning, in what they represent, their beauty, or the stories they tell. I hope you have come here because we share a common passion for history, jewelry and all things beautiful! Message me with any questions or special requests, I will always respond as quickly as possible. Thank you for your interest!
